Dear VOX Community,
We wanted to reach out and update you on a decision we’ve had to make at VOX recently, that we will also be announcing to the community this weekend, May 5th.
It is with a heavy heart to inform you that the physical expression of VOX community must come to a close. In the past six months of looking closely at our financial state, and working through as many possible scenarios as we could, we have concluded that our VOX Sunday morning gatherings are no longer financially sustainable.
During this time, we searched for alternative meeting spaces and options. Unfortunately, none of the alternatives we found proved to be efficient spaces that would allow us to maintain the cost of continuing our community. The financial decline we are experiencing grows more significant each week. As a team, we do not feel it is appropriate to fundraise from our existing community or become a church that compromises the values of VOX in order to further develop financial stability. Therefore, it has been determined that May 26th will be our last Sunday gathering at the PAC.
We have intentionally brought in our Community Pastors on this decision and have communicated honestly with them during these past few weeks. They too have shared the same sadness that we feel, ultimately supporting this decision. In the next few weeks, we will have a better understanding about what possibilities exist for us to continue an expression of VOX. This could include potentially meeting in small groups at homes, continued informal dinners within the community, or us (as a leadership team) supporting some of you who feel led to brainstorming what it could mean to live out VOX values in your own neighborhoods and communities.
Each of you have become significant and trusted friends to us in this season. You’ve been vulnerable, honest with us, and your presence at VOX has only deepened our desire to live out VOX values in our own personal lives and within our own families. You have extended safe relationships to us and have allowed us to lean into transparency and vulnerability, as we journeyed through the tensions within our own faith and church experiences. We felt it was important to let you know this information, in advance, as you have been equally committed to helping create a physical space at VOX so that others could be in process as well. Although the cost to continue VOX in its current expression is no longer possible, we look forward to continuing the relationships and friendships with each of you.
We do not want to leave you stranded or neglect to provide space for us as a community to process this together. We will have four more Sundays to gather at the PAC. The next two Sundays, May 5th and May 12th will be regular gatherings, in which we would still love for you to volunteer if you were committed to do so. However, the last two gatherings on May 19th and May 26th will include everyone (families, children, nursery, etc.) in the PAC. Our hope is to gather together after the gathering on the 26th and have lunch together, as a community, on the lawn.
As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly difficult process for us, and we grieve this decision together with you. As a leadership team, we are available for you over these next few weeks, to talk, meet, and connect about this decision and answer any questions you may have. Despite the close of this chapter, we want you to know that we love you and look forward to living out the values of VOX with you, wherever, whenever, and however we can.
